Active Health Prevention (GVA)

An Attractive Alternative to Traditional Spa Therapy

Active Health Prevention — known in German-speaking countries as Gesundheitsvorsorge Aktiv, or GVA — is a holistic, activity-based therapeutic programme that goes well beyond the traditional spa cure. More than “just” wellness or recuperation holiday, it’s a fully structured medical prevention and therapy programme with significantly more movement and exercise built in.

The goal of the GVA is to positively influence your lifestyle and, in doing so, bring about lasting improvements to your quality of life. It’s designed to boost vitality, physical and emotional wellbeing, and to rekindle a genuine joy of movement. The therapy plan therefore combines regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and dedicated modules for building mental resilience.

Compared to conventional spa treatments, the GVA takes a far more individual and targeted approach. Alongside the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, active movement therapy takes centre stage — supported by strength, endurance, and relaxation training. The right kind of movement, practised consistently, can preserve good health for many years to come. That’s why therapists work with you to refine your technique and show you how to weave exercise seamlessly into everyday life.

Stress prevention can also be incorporated into your therapy plan. Those who carry a heavy psychological load in their day-to-day lives will learn how to set boundaries and truly unwind — benefiting from a strengthened sense of resilience and improved mental health. The GVA is linked to a residential stay and lasts three weeks, with a total of 1,400 therapy minutes — compared to just 1,000 minutes in a traditional spa programme. That additional time is put to good use through active movement, while passive treatments such as peat packs are reduced accordingly. Costs are generally covered by social insurance, with patients contributing a personal excess.

Whether you’re dealing with back, spinal, or shoulder pain — or discomfort in the knee, ankle, or joints more generally — the GVA can provide targeted relief, with prevention and long-term health firmly at the forefront.

The GVA is about promoting and maintaining good health, so you can enjoy more healthy years of life.
